Boppletimer Series 'Human Horse Show'

Jump For A Cause -- All Proceeds to LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement.

Last year four 13 year-old girls with a dream of helping horses, finally got a chance to make a difference, with that the first "Human Horse Show" was born. The human horse show is an exciting event which contains humans jumping the horse jumps.  It was held at Brightwater Farm in Erin, Ontario, the event raised $2,700 to benefit Heaven Can Wait Equine Rescue, a local charity.

The girls planning the event -- Maddie Corrigan, Katie Doyle, Max Taylor, and Beth Standing -- called themselves the Brightwater Farm Junior Fundraising Committee. The idea came up when they were jumping around at the farm. The girls worked really hard on finding sponsors and organizing the event having set the bar high they are planning to hold an even better human horse show this year.

This year the girls are back with a few additions to the team and a renewed determination to help our equine companions. The 2nd annual Human Horse Show will take place on July 9th 2009 starting at 9:00 am to late afternoon or when the show last division finishes and will again take place at Brightwater Farm Equestrian Centre. A great chance to help horses; it will also help these four girls fulfill their dream. The organizers are looking for more sponsors for prizes and other activities are planned.  And of course, competitors are being encouraged to join the fun.

This year the girls chose a new charity LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement. Their aim is to offer an alternative to owners and trainers - rather than have horses continue to race that are no longer able to compete, LongRun tries to help by fostering, rehabilitating and finding these racehorses permanent adoptive homes and alternative careers as pleasure horses or companion animals. As they say “We believe that our brave and beautiful thoroughbred racehorses deserve a dignified retirement.”

If you would like information on how to help, or if you have any questions, please e-mail humanhorseshow@gmail.com. Competitors can register by requesting a fax-back registration form from the same email address or by clicking on the link above.  Pre-registrations will be accepted from the 2nd to the 8th of July.

The day promises to be a fun filled event for all ages with divisions like the Shetland pony (small jumps for the young ones) to the Warmblood (with larger jumps for those of us who are a bit more daring), of course the Rusty Stirrup (for those  who aren’t quite foals anymore) and everything in between.

These energetic and enterprising young women are ready to help horses in need, so come out and join them. They hope to see you there!

A Message from the Brightwater Farm Junior Fundraising Committee:

Brightwater is having another horseshow for humans! Have you ever heard of a human horseshow? Have you ever had the dream of competing in a horseshow, but without the cost of a horse? You now have heard of a human horseshow, and now your dream will be able to come true! This awesome series will be held on Thursday July 9th.

All proceeds will benefit a local horse rescue LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society. In order to show you’ll have to come up with a show name (make sure it is original; not the same as anyone else’s that is competing as well). Make sure your attire is comfortable, and fun. There will be a 50/50 draw as well, and much more fun. Come with jumping abilities, and lots of fun! You can pre-enter by emailing us at humanhorseshow@gmail.com!
